As Chief Financial Officer at NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health – a leading safety net health facility – My responsibilities fall under the overall oversight of financial strategy, financial reporting and planning amongst various other duties. My role in healthcare financial management was sparked by my commitment towards positively impacting members of society and our overall community. As my range of experience gradually increased throughout the span of about 15-20 years—the journey to further accelerate motivated my role and platform to serve as a firsthand lead towards implementation and assistance efficient and effective financial management, business leadership, and business strategies. Broadening my field within Operational Planning and Budgeting additionally allowed me to further network and collaborate to generate, analyze and assist and further understand the complexities within financial and health management.
In 1996 Mr. Collington joined at NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health – formerly Coney Island Hospital as an Administrative Fellow in Ambulatory Care for GNYHA Fellowship Program. His duties and obligations under his title/ role were held to the administrative standard and the overall maximization and implementation of project assistance and data analyzation. Mr. Collington’s exemplary leadership and work ethic/ standard led him to being promoted as Coordinator for Ambulatory Care where he constructed a learning and teaching curriculum and training courses for new staff and information systems. Although his prior role already entailed these functions, his promotion allowed for him gradually enhance his platform and his capacity to further impact and pave the way towards regulatory work practice standards.
Mr. Collington’s field or career range enhanced from Coordinator in a Clinical setting to Supervising Systems Analyst for Health and Hospitals Facility. His primary setting or range of data analysis extensively increased on a broader scale level to include South Brooklyn Health (Coney Island) facility overall instead of a limited range or select few clinical settings. Mr. Collington’s role embodied implementation, care quality, financial sustainability and patient care trajectory benchmarks that paved the budgeting and revenue processes overall. Within a short time frame— Mr. Collington’s achievements and successful efforts were notably recognized and highlighted leading to his most reformative role as Senior Associate Director for the Budget Department in hand with the notably respected role as Affiliate Contract Manager.
Mr. Collington assisted in the creation and preparation of over a $300 Million Operating Budget as well as South Brooklyn Health Hospital Facilities $390 Million annual revenue budget. His oversight and management of the Grants, Budget and program extension encouraged the establishment of professional development and accuracy as a second-hand nature within SBH environment facility and individual roles. Mr. Collington has committed his impact to support both clinical and non-clinical settings while adhering to policy/ facility guidelines. Mr. Collington eventually ran, supported and cross-referenced various forms of data, facility funding, annual fiscal budgeting/ affiliation contracting.
Mr. Collington has committed his professional and educational goals as a pillar effort to positively impacting his community and serving as a gap closing bridge within healthcare finance and administration Mr. Collington has created and constructed various expense reduction opportunities along with addressing external requests and relationships. In 1995— after completing his Bachelors degree in Science in Business, successfully completed his Master’s in Public Administration and sub minor in Finance.
