Hamila Kownacki, RN, MSHA is the Chief Executive Officer for Sutter Health’s California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC), a network of three acute care hospitals and outpatient centers in San Francisco. Hamila has extensive expertise in business development, management, hospital operations, and Community and Board relations. In 2020 and 2023, Hamila was recognized by the San Francisco Business Times as one of the “Most Influential Women in Bay Area Business.” Hamila has held a variety of roles within CPMC and Sutter Health, including chief operating officer, vice president of operations and chief administrative officer of CPMC’s Pacific Campus, COO of the physicians’ foundation at CPMC, vice president for facilities development and director of CPMC business development and planning. Hamila has served on several boards and a variety of committees as chair. Her board experience includes Jewish Vocational Services, Donor Network West, Meals on Wheels San Francisco, Presidio Surgery Center, San Francisco Endoscopy Center and California Pacific Advanced Imaging. She began her career as an oncology and ICU nurse at Saint John’s in Santa Monica and has worked for Prudential Health Care and the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan in strategy, business and network development and contracting roles. She earned her bachelor’s degree at CSU Northridge, and her master’s degree in health services administration at St. Mary’s in Moraga.
