Marissa Kiefer joined the Memorial Hermann Health System in 2021 as senior vice president and chief executive officer. Previously, she was vice president of strategy at Riley Children’s Health, a part of Indiana University Health, headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana.
As senior vice president and chief executive officer of Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, Ms. Kiefer oversees the 332-bed women’s and children’s hospital with more than 40 specialties, including renowned programs in pediatric neurosciences, pediatric and congenital cardiac care and pediatric trauma. In her role, she leverages her strategic mindset and passion for maternal and pediatric care to enhance operational performance. In addition, she oversees a multidisciplinary team of health professionals who provide the highest level of care to women and children, including the latest advances in high-risk pregnancy and neonatal critical care.
As vice president at Riley Children’s Health, a 456-bed academic pediatric health system, Ms. Kiefer was responsible for developing a statewide strategic platform for maternal and pediatric health care that established the 50-location system as Indiana’s provider of choice for the full spectrum of care for expectant mothers and children. Prior to becoming vice president at Riley, she was executive director of practice operations for Indiana University Health Physicians, the largest academic multispecialty group in the state. Earlier in her career, Ms. Kiefer served in various operational roles at Children’s National Hospital, a pediatric health system in Washington, D.C.
Ms. Kiefer earned her Bachelor of Science in Public Health, with a major in health administration, from Indiana University in Bloomington. Her Master of Health Services Administration is from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
