Born and raised in Tampa, Jennifer Burrington is a fourth-generation Floridian dedicated to driving economic development in her community. As the Director of Healthcare & Life Sciences at the Tampa Bay Economic Development Council, she plays a pivotal role in establishing the region as a global health destination through the development of the Tampa Medical & Research District in partnership with Tampa General Hospital and the University of South Florida.
With a strong background as a Senior Consultant and Research Analyst at Ernst & Young, Jennifer specializes in economic and demographic data analysis, target industry research, and workforce development. Her expertise has been instrumental in supporting clients across the U.S. to achieve strategic goals, particularly in the healthcare and life sciences sectors.
Jennifer's commitment to fostering growth and innovation is evidenced by her successful oversight of initiatives that have directly resulted in the creation of over 2,000 jobs, retention of more than 9,000 jobs, and the attraction of $5.5 billion in capital investment. She is passionate about cultivating partnerships with clinicians, researchers, and major companies to enhance Tampa's entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Jennifer holds a B.S. in Natural Resource Economics from the University of Florida and an M.S. in Agricultural and Applied Economics from Texas Tech University. When not working to elevate the healthcare landscape in Tampa, she enjoys traveling and spending quality time with her husband, daughter, and dog.
