Director, Neuroscience & Oncology
Sutter Health
When Bryan’s mother had her first stroke right after he graduated nursing school, it forever shaped his healthcare career. From experiencing the first-hand lens of being a caregiver, he is on a lifelong mission to improve care delivery while sparking sustained patient engagement.
Bryan currently serves as the Director of Neuroscience, Oncology, and Clinical Research at Sutter Eden Medical Center. He led the hospital to become Joint Commission certified as a Comprehensive Stroke Center. This is the highest level of certification for hospitals with specific abilities to receive and treat the most complex stroke cases. To improve time to treatment, Bryan partnered with emergency medical services and taught first responder classes on how to better recognize posterior circulation stroke symptoms.
Prior to Sutter, Bryan stood up the Intensive Outpatient Care Management program for La Clínica, one of the largest community health centers in California. This program succesfully addressed the complex clinical and non-clinical needs of Managed Medi-Cal beneficiaries and increased their positive behavior changes through motivational interviewing. With a demonstrated history of providing innovative solutions, Bryan has been invited to speak at several universities, state conferences, and a nationwide symposium.
Bryan currently serves as Board President at Habitat for Humanity Merced-Stanislaus Counties. The goal of this organization is to partner with the local community to help them build or improve a place they can call home. He has expanded program services throughout the region, including increasing HUD-certified housing counselors by securing a community health investment from a not-for-profit integrated health system. After thousands of Planada residents were displaced due to flooding, he helped lead disaster recovery efforts by rebuilding flood-damaged homes. As a firm believer in Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs, Bryan understands that patients have a hard time improving chronic health conditions until their safety, security, and physiological needs are met.
Bryan is a registered nurse and holds a BSN from Dominican University of California. He holds an MBA from Western Governors University. Bryan is board certified in healthcare management as an American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Fellow. He was 1 of 30 selected nationwide as a 2024 ACHE Career Accelerator Program Scholar and is on the 2025 Board of Directors for ACHE’s Northern and Central California Chapter, the California Association of Healthcare Leaders (CAHL).
