Marcos is Vice President for Community Health & Chief Diversity Officer for CHRISTUS Health. His team is responsible for shepherding and implementing strategies that ensure CHRISTUS lives out its mission of preserving the dignity of every person. They develop strategies that equip our leaders, clinicians and associates with tools that promote diversity, inclusion and health equity. From representing, the demographic make-up of the communities we serve at every level to ensuring diversity of thought and culture is valued and embraced.
Extending the healing ministry of Jesus Christ also calls us beyond the walls of our facilities into the communities we serve, giving preference to the vulnerable and under resourced. We invest resources and collaborate with cross sector community partners to improve health and social conditions that benefit the common good and eliminate disparities.
In addition, he focuses on educating our system on areas of racial and social justice so that, as OneCHRISTUS we continue to grow in our humanity.
He served in many committees and boards. He currently serves in the American Hospital Association’s Population and Community Health Advisory Committee; AHA’s Institute for Diversity and Health Equity Leadership Council and is President of the National Association of Latino Healthcare Executives.
