Dr. Chris DeRienzo is a neonatologist and physician executive with nearly two decades of board and health system leadership experience. He currently serves as Chief Physician Executive of the American Hospital Association, as President of HRET, the AHA's 501(c)3 subsidiary, and as an Adjunct Professor of Pediatrics at the Duke University School of Medicine. Before joining the AHA, Dr. DeRienzo most recently served as the System Chief Medical Officer and SVP of Quality at WakeMed Health and Hospitals, where he had senior executive responsibility for clinical operations across a large integrated safety-net health system. Dr. DeRienzo serves on the Board of Directors of Mednition and as an Advisor to Concord Health Partners, and has previously served in Board or Board Advisor roles for hospitals, ACOs, and both public and private entities. He is also author of the book Tiny Medicine (published in 2019) and an active triathlete. He lives with his family in North Carolina.
