Tom Vernon is a registered nurse and has held leadership roles in the areas of patient experience, clinical education, human resources, organizational development and learning technology throughout his 29-year healthcare career. He has been with Houston Methodist since May 2015 as system director of talent management. Previously, Mr. Vernon was with Cleveland Clinic for 25 years in a variety of roles. As senior director of international patient experience, he consulted with organizations around the world to help them learn, implement and sustain the patient experience best practices of Cleveland Clinic.

Mr. Vernon has a Master of Education degree in global human resource education from the University of Illinois and a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Cleveland State University. He holds the Certified Professional in Learning and Performance credential from the Association for Talent Development. Mr. Vernon has presented internationally on multiple topics, including patient and employee experience, cultural transformation, performance management, performance consulting, succession planning, employee engagement, and learning technology.
