Group Senior Vice President/Regional Chief Operating Officer
Pamela Sutton-Wallace is an accomplished healthcare executive with more than 25 years of experience in various sectors of the healthcare industry. Currently, she serves as group senior vice president/regional COO at NewYork-Presbyterian. In this capacity, she is responsible for strategic operations in the Brooklyn and Queens markets and oversees the NYP Physician Services division. Prior to her appointment at NYP, Ms. Sutton-Wallace served as CEO for the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville from 2014 to 2020. Overseeing a $2.2 billion budget, she strategically led UVA Health in receiving several national recognitions in quality, safety, patient experience and team member engagement. She also has personally received several national awards and recognitions for her professional accomplishments and community service.
While at Duke University Hospital in Durham, N.C., for 17 years, Ms. Sutton-Wallace served in several leadership positions, including senior vice president for hospital operations, COO for ambulatory services, vice president for perioperative services and chief of staff to the chancellor for health affairs. She also has held positions in the pharmaceutical and insurance industries at Pfizer and Blue Cross & Blue Shield of North Carolina, respectively. Ms. Sutton-Wallace received her undergraduate degree in political science and African-American studies from Washington University in St. Louis. She later graduated from Yale University with a Master of Public Health degree. Ms. Sutton-Wallace has served on several professional and community boards and currently serves on the corporate board of J2 Global, an international digital media firm.
