Nicholas Tejeda, FACHE
The Hospitals of Providence (Tenet Healthcare)
Nicholas Tejeda is the group CEO for The Hospitals of Providence. The Hospitals of Providence comprises over 60 access points in the community, including acute care hospitals, a children’s hospital, a surgical hospital, micro-hospitals, freestanding ERs, urgent care clinics, physician clinics, ambulatory surgery centers, and other outpatient services. The healthcare leader in the region, The Hospitals of Providence coordinates care delivery through a high-performing clinically integrated network that serves as the accountable care organization for many payers in the region. In addition to his role as group CEO, Mr. Tejeda serves as CEO for The Hospitals of Providence Memorial Campus and Providence Children’s Hospital.
Prior to his current role, he served as CEO of THOP Transmountain Campus, THOP Sierra Campus and the THOP East Campus. Mr. Tejeda is a member of the American Hospital Association Board of Trustees. He received the 2018 Early Career Achievement in Medicine Award from the University of Kansas Medical Alumni Association, the first nonphysician to receive such recognition. He received ACHE’s Robert S. Hudgens Memorial Award for Young Healthcare Executive of the Year in 2017. For two years, he served as chair of the AHA’s Institute for Diversity and Health Equity. The Federation of American Hospitals awarded Mr. Tejeda the 2013 Corris Boyd Diversity & Leadership Award, and he was recognized with the 2020 AHA Board of Trustees award for his substantial and noteworthy contributions toward health equity across the United States. He serves as adjunct assistant professor with the TTUHSC Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing. The Hospitals of Providence is located in El Paso, Texas, part of the largest binational metropolitan area in the Western Hemisphere. Mr. Tejeda is board certified in healthcare management as an ACHE Fellow.
