Melissa Cole is an assistant professor/concentration coordinator for the MSN in Administration program at The University of New Mexico College of Nursing. She has worked primarily in leadership positions across her 35 years in nursing, specializing in quality, change management, innovation and consulting. Prior to joining the faculty at the College of Nursing, she worked at Siemens and The Advisory Board Company. She has also held leadership positions at the University of New Mexico Hospital. Dr. Cole contributed to the book The Tracks We Leave: Ethics and Management Dilemmas in Healthcare, second and third editions, published by Health Administration Press. Dr. Cole earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of New Mexico with a concentration in nurse executive organizational leadership, a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Hope College. She is board certified in healthcare management as an ACHE Fellow.
