Nursing Quality Specialist, Emergency Department

Mayo Clinic

Lori Scanlan-Hanson has been the quality specialist for Mayo Clinic, Rochester Emergency Department and Level 1 Trauma Center, since 2006. She is a certified master trainer for TeamSTEPPS through the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, is certified as a Lean Six Sigma black belt by the American Society of Quality and is a certified instructor for Prosci Change Management courses. She draws from her 30-plus years of clinical nursing. Additionally, she has served as a nursing director of a rural hospital, director of a Medicare-certified homecare/hospice agency and a quality director in primary care, a role that earned her the American Medical Group Association Acclaim Award. A frequent presenter at national and international conferences, Ms. Scanlan-Hanson is a distinguished faculty member for the Mayo Quality Academy. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing and a master’s degree in educational psychology and counseling at Winona State University.
