Lloyd H. Dean is CEO of CommonSpirit Health, one of the largest nonprofit health systems in the United States. Mr. Dean is dedicated to preserving and expanding healthcare access for all. Recognized as one of the most influential healthcare leaders in the nation, he directs an organization with 139 hospitals and more than 1,000 other healthcare facilities in 21 states. The health system, headquartered in Chicago, has approximately 150,000 employees and generates annual revenues of nearly $30 billion, providing approximately $4.5 billion each year in community benefit.
Previously, Mr. Dean served for almost two decades as CEO of San Francisco-based Dignity Health before its merger in February 2019 with Denver-based Catholic Health Initiatives. A vocal proponent for healthcare reform and programs to keep people healthy, he has worked throughout his long career to eliminate the social disparities of health that are at the root of problems behind many health issues. Mr. Dean is a member of the Health Affairs Council on Health Care Spending and Value and the American Heart Association CEO Roundtable. Prior to joining Dignity, he was executive vice president/COO of Advocate Health Care, Oak Brook, Ill.
