Lee Chien Earn is deputy group CEO, regional health system, for SingHealth, which seeks to enable the population in eastern Singapore to keep well, get well and live well. He was previously CEO of Changi General Hospital, a 1,000-bed acute teaching hospital. His prior appointments include senior leadership positions in the Ministry of Health Singapore, where he was involved in the strategic development and improvement of healthcare services as well as health regulation and finance. He is also an adjunct professor in the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, National University of Singapore, the Duke-NUS Medical School, and the Singapore University of Technology and Design. He has previously been and currently is a member of several international committees, including the International Steering Committee, WHO Collaborating Centre for Patient Safety; Steering Committee, Asia-Pacific Observatory on Health Systems and Policies; and the Joint Commission International Standards Advisory Panel. He was chairman of the Singapore Healthcare Improvement Network and a member of the Medishield Life (the national health insurance scheme) Review Committee. He co-edited Singapore’s Health Care System: What 50 Years Have Achieved and contributed the chapter on “Strategies for Health Services” in the Oxford Textbook of Global Public Health, sixth edition.
