Kathryn W. Zavaleta is senior principal health systems engineer for the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, Department of Management Engineering and Internal Consulting. A graduate of the University of Michigan School of Public Health (master’s degree in health services administration), Ms. Zavaleta’s leadership includes diverse healthcare settings in rural, community multi-site, military, academic and international healthcare organizations. She is a trusted adviser on diffusion of best practice for leaders across the continuum from primary to tertiary care. Her expertise in strategy deployment focuses on the particular challenges of caring for the sickest patients with chronic diseases, including the current mental health crisis and opioid-related morbidity and mortality. She is a member of the ACHE Minnesota Chapter Board and chair of the Southeast Minnesota Local Program Council. Ms. Zavaleta is board certified in healthcare management as an ACHE Fellow.
