Janice E. Nevin, MD



A visionary and collaborative healthcare leader, Janice E. Nevin has served as president/CEO of ChristianaCare since 2014, leading a transformation from a healthcare system to a system that truly impacts health. She is nationally recognized as a pioneer and thought leader in value-based care and population health, and for her assertion that truly great healthcare is built on the values of love and excellence. Her leadership has also vaulted ChristianaCare to national recognition for its advancement of caregiver well-being through the work of the Center for WorkLife Wellbeing.

Under Dr. Nevin’s leadership, ChristianaCare developed the unique data-driven care coordination platform CareVio to proactively address patients’ social and behavioral health needs in addition to their medical needs. It earned the 2017 John M. Eisenberg Patient Safety and Quality Award, among other recognitions. Dr. Nevin also led the development of eBrightHealth ACO, an accountable care organization designed to improve care coordination, clinical quality and value in Delaware and the region.

Modern Healthcare selected Dr. Nevin as one of its “50 Most Influential Clinical Executives” in 2020 and 2021 after naming her to the publication’s “Top 25 Women Leaders” list in 2019. She has been inducted into the Delaware Women’s Hall of Fame, among many other healthcare industry and community honors. Dr. Nevin serves on the Board of Trustees of the American Hospital Association and is a member of its Committee on Health Strategy & Innovation. She is secretary of the board of directors of America’s Essential Hospitals and a member of the organization’s executive committee. Dr. Nevin also sits on the boards of several other organizations. She graduated from Harvard University and earned her medical degree with honors from Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. She completed her family medicine residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and her Master of Public Health degree at the University of Pittsburgh. She joined ChristianaCare in 2002 as chair of the Department of Family and Community Medicine. Dr. Nevin currently serves as a professor of family and community medicine at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University.
