Gary Paxson currently serves as president/CEO of White River Health System. He began his career as a registered nurse, serving primarily in ICU and ER care. He transitioned from bedside care to nursing informatics, where he discovered a passion for strategic planning and healthcare leadership. After completing his master’s degree, he became CIO at WRHS. Eventually, this led to him assuming the chief quality officer role, merging the clinical practices with technology utilization to improve patient care and caregiver efficiency. As quality and patient experience improved, additional leadership opportunities eventually led to Mr. Paxson being named administrator of White River Medical Center and finally president/CEO of White River Health System. Mr. Paxson is passionate about providing excellent care for every patient served and providing a positive work culture where every employee is supported and valued so they, in turn, can provide excellent service to every patient, every time. He is board certified in healthcare management as an ACHE Fellow.
