Donald R. Avery is president/CEO of Fairview Park Hospital, Dublin, Ga. He has been at Fairview Park since 2008. Prior to that, he worked in hospital leadership positions in Jacksonville, Fla., and Valdosta and Columbus, Ga. Mr. Avery served in the U.S. Air Force for six years as a pilot, instructor pilot and operations officer. He received his undergraduate education at the U.S. Air Force Academy and his graduate degrees in business and health science at the University of Florida. He has been active in his community, serving on and chairing multiple local boards, and in his church as a deacon and teacher. He has also been involved in various healthcare professional organizations at the state and national levels. He has been a speaker at several state and national hospital association meetings, as well as a regular guest lecturer at several universities. Mr. Avery currently serves as an adjunct faculty member at Creighton University in Omaha, Neb. He is board certified in healthcare management as an ACHE Fellow.
