Daniel Stein is CEO/founder of Embold Health, a data analytics company that is creating a new standard for healthcare quality. Prior to founding Embold Health, Dr. Stein served as CMO of Walmart Care Clinics, where he led the retailer’s efforts to offer quality, affordable primary healthcare services. Dr. Stein came to Walmart after serving four years as an ER physician for the Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks, where he delivered medical care to U.S. veterans in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Missouri.
Dr. Stein launched his healthcare career by holding various policy positions in Washington, D.C., while completing his medical degree at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore. As a member of the United States Senate Committee on Finance staff, Dr. Stein worked extensively on the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act of 2003 and organized bipartisan efforts to improve healthcare workforce, medical malpractice and patient safety issues. He also worked at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, focusing on Medicare quality and pay-for-performance initiatives. Dr. Stein earned an undergraduate degree in ethics, politics and economics from Yale University; a medical degree from Johns Hopkins; and a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School. He completed his residency in primary care internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where he was honored with the John H. McArthur Fellowship in Medicine and Management.
