Colleen Hole serves in a dual role at Atrium Health as vice president, clinical integration, and chief nurse executive, Atrium Health Medical Group. In these system-level roles she supports population health initiatives across the health system, provides strategic and operational leadership for the Hospital at Home program, and oversees nonprovider clinical practice and role optimization in ambulatory care.
Prior to her nearly exclusive focus on Hospital at Home beginning in March 2020, Ms. Hole served as vice president, clinical integration in population health, where she was responsible for integrating the principles of population health and value-based care into clinical and operational practice. Prior to joining the Population Health team in 2017, she served in the CHS Medical Group, overseeing strategic direction and practice operations for six provider specialties, including pulmonary, critical care, infectious disease, palliative care, geriatrics and emergency medicine. In addition, she led the CHS Critical Care Network to standardize, coordinate and enhance critical care services across all CHS facilities and implemented the Virtual Critical Care program to monitor nearly 400 ICU beds across the region. Ms. Hole has held several nurse leader positions during her career with a clinical focus primarily in critical care and obstetrics. In addition to her healthcare career, she spent several years as a consultant and speaker on various aspects of organizational culture, including communication, change management, conflict management and teamwork.
Ms. Hole received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She is American Nurses Credentialing Center certified as a Nurse Executive and was a 2008 recipient of the North Carolina Great 100 award. She grew up in West Virginia and Ohio but has lived in North Carolina since 1980. Ms. Hole enjoys cooking, reading, quilting, traveling and spending time in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina. She is board certified in healthcare management as an ACHE Fellow.
