Direct Relief
Byron C. Scott serves as chair of the Medical Advisory Council for Direct Relief, where he also serves on its board of directors. Dr. Scott previously served as deputy chief health officer at IBM Watson Health. His career also included service in executive and leadership roles for over 20 years in the physician practice management industry with EmCare. He currently teaches healthcare quality courses as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Massachusetts Amherst Isenberg School of Management and Jefferson University College of Population Health. In addition, he serves on the Board Quality Committee at Rady Children’s Hospital–San Diego. Dr. Scott earned his undergraduate degree from UCLA and his medical degree from the University of California, San Diego. He completed his emergency medicine residency and administrative fellowship at Orlando Regional Medical Center. Dr. Scott received his master’s degree in business administration from the UMass Amherst Isenberg School of Management.
