Wendy Horton, PharmD, FACHE
Wendy Horton is CEO of UVA Health Medical Center. UVA Health is a world-class health system with a Level I trauma center, a nationally recognized cancer center, a children’s hospital and three community hospitals. Dr. Horton joined UVA Health with extensive executive experience at leading academic medical centers. She currently leads the medical center on the cutting edge of patient-centered quality care delivery for the Commonwealth of Virginia and beyond. Before joining UVA Health, she served as chief administrative officer of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. There, she developed a united physician compensation plan and transformed the institution’s caliber of faculty through a robust growth plan. Dr. Horton previously served as vice president of operations at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics, where she helped commission a new hospital. She currently serves on several boards, including the American Society of Health System Pharmacists board of directors and on the Charlottesville Chamber of Commerce board. She holds a Master of Business Administration degree in marketing and finance from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Utah, and a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy from Oregon State University. Dr. Horton is board certified in healthcare management as an ACHE Fellow.
