Thomas A. Atchison is president and founder of Atchison Consulting LLC. Since 1984, Dr. Atchison has consulted with healthcare organizations on managed change programs, team building and leadership development. His clients include senior executives, managers, trustees and physician leaders. He has also consulted the military, healthcare vendors and government agencies on the intangible aspects of healthcare. Dr. Atchison has taught several courses on leadership and change management for ACHE. He has also written numerous articles about motivation, managed change, teambuilding and leadership. His book, Turning Healthcare Leadership Around, was published in October 1990. His newest book, Reigniting Employee Engagement: A Guide to Rediscovering Purpose and Meaning in Healthcare, was published in 2021. Dr. Atchison earned his doctorate in organizational behavior at Loyola University of Chicago and is an ACHE Member. He serves as faculty for the ACHE seminars “Leading and Managing in Changing Times” and “Achieving Superior Outcomes Through Executive-Physician Partnerships.” Dr. Atchison also authored the following Health Administration Press publications: Followership: A Practical Guide to Aligning Leaders and Followers; Leadership’s Deeper Dimensions: Building Blocks to Superior Performance; Leading Healthcare Cultures: How Human Capital Drives Financial Performance; and Leading Transformational Change: The Physician-Executive Partnership.
