Tammy Capretta serves as chief transformation and risk officer for Keck Medicine of USC and as the university’s associate vice president of healthcare compliance. In her role, Ms. Capretta supports positive growth within Keck Medicine during a time of unprecedented expansion of the health system. She is responsible for assessing opportunities for potential partnerships with other organizations and for leading Keck Medicine’s cultural transformation. Her other areas of responsibility include risk management, compliance and credentialing. Ms. Capretta has already played an integral role in many of Keck Medicine’s expansion efforts, such as ensuring the smooth transition and integration of numerous clinical entities into the health system, including USC Verdugo Hills Hospital, USC Student Health and the Las Vegas Culinary Health Center. In addition, she will continue to lead healthcare compliance in the USC Office of Ethics and Compliance, which is designed to promote ethical management and business behavior and is dedicated to compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Ms. Capretta has served as chair of the Association of American Medical Colleges’ Compliance Officers’ Forum, and she was a featured speaker for former President Barack Obama’s task force on Health Care Fraud and Abuse Control Program. Ms. Capretta began her career as a public health nurse before joining Keck Medicine in 1991 as COO of USC Care Medical Group. She holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Texas Christian University and a master’s degree in public health from the University of California, Los Angeles.
