Susanna Rustad
Susanna Rustad serves as chief procurement officer, leading end-to-end supply chain, and executive director of virtual care, at UCI Health. She is a healthcare transformation leader with 20 years of industry experience leading large-scale, dynamic organizational change in high reliability, publicly traded Fortune 16 and top-ranking academic medical center environments. Under her leadership, UCI Health has achieved 2021 “#1 Provider of the Year” in the nation recognition for supply chain operational excellence, securing its seat on the Global Healthcare Exchange Best 50 Honors listing consistently over the past three years of her five-year tenure. Ms. Rustad holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University of California in Los Angeles and a Master of Business Administration degree (healthcare specialization) with an emphasis on strategic leadership for a digitally driven world from the University of California in Irvine, Paul Merage School of Business. Her expertise as an operations leader manifests as deep-in-the-trenches hospital and healthcare industry knowledge gained through her collaboration with more than 100 U.S. healthcare systems, including academic, for-profit and not-for-profit facilities, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the U.S. Department of Defense, and Indian Health Services. Her broad spectrum of competencies include experience with ambulatory care, distribution, group purchasing organizations, manufacturing and medical purchased services. Her most recent adventure includes spearheading the creation, implementation, vision and road map for a continuum of healthcare “at home” through innovative virtual, digital care solutions that increase care supply and access to care.
