Sterling Bird

Sterling Bird is assistant director of Columbia VA Health Care System. Mr. Bird began his VA career in 2009 and has since held multiple positions of increasing responsibility tied directly into clinical and administrative operations throughout the Columbia VA Health Care System. Mr. Bird is a U.S. Army Veteran. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Carolina in 2001 and a master’s degree in health administration from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2012. He is a graduate of the Veterans Affairs’ regional and national VA leadership programs. Mr. Bird currently oversees several areas within the Columbia VA Health Care system, including police service, chaplain service, environmental management service, nutrition and food services, community care service, and the referral coordination initiative. He serves as champion for the healthcare system’s diversity and inclusion efforts and its employee education programs. Mr. Bird is committed to giving back to the community and offers his time to others through his involvement on local and regional boards.
