Sommer Hatfield, JD
Sommer Hatfield currently serves as vice president of provider administration at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. With more than 20 years of administrative leadership experience, Ms. Hatfield partners with the physician-in-chief and senior vice president of ambulatory and physician practice operations to develop and implement strategic and tactical plans to integrate clinical operations with financial stewardship, scholarly productivity and provider well-being. She previously served as chief administrator for the Department of Pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. As chief administrator, Ms. Hatfield was responsible for the administrative management and coordination of the department’s clinical operations, education and research missions, as well as finance, personnel, facilities planning, research administration, and strategic planning of the Department of Pediatrics’ 24 sections and 700-plus faculty and staff members. Her work was in collaboration with Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and other partner organizations. Ms. Hatfield has also served as the sponsored programs manager for the Medical College of Wisconsin and subsequently joined the Department of Pediatrics in the role of associate administrator of finance and strategic planning. She earned a Juris Doctor degree from Southwestern University School of Law and holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
