Mary Beth Kingston, PhD, RN, FAAN

As CNO Mary Beth Kingston is responsible for nursing practice and standards, as well as patient experience, across Advocate Aurora Health. Prior to joining Aurora Health Care as chief nursing executive in 2012, Ms. Kingston served as system CNO at Einstein Health Network in Philadelphia; president of Bates and Associates, a healthcare consulting firm; vice president of operations at Delaware County Memorial Hospital; and associate director of emergency and trauma services at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Ms. Kingston serves on the American Hospital Association’s board of trustees, where she is a member of the Executive Committee and chairs the Hospitals Against Violence Advisory Group. She served on the board of the American Organization of Nurse Executives from 2014 to 2016 and was president in 2019. She was also a member of the boards of the Milwaukee Urban League and Mount Mary University. Ms. Kingston was inducted as a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing in 2020 and was named to Modern Healthcare’s “50 Most Influential Clinical Executives” list in 2021. She was recently named a Health Care Champion by the Milwaukee Business Journal for her work on the pandemic response. She is a 2020 recipient of the American Assembly for Men in Nursing’s Inclusion and Diversity Excellence Award. She was a Robert Wood Johnson Executive Nurse Fellow from 2009 to 2012 and in 2007, she received the Pennsylvania Nightingale Award for Nursing Administration. Ms. Kingston earned a doctorate in health policy from the University of Sciences in Philadelphia and master’s and bachelor’s degrees in nursing from West Chester University.
