Since 2017, John D. Couris has served as president/CEO of Tampa General Hospital, a nationally recognized, not-for-profit, academic and research health system partnered with the University of South Florida. As a visionary leader who champions innovation, Mr. Couris has had continued success building healthcare companies throughout the country by driving innovation, operational excellence and strategic collaborations. He is best known for creating an organizational culture that thrives on authenticity, kindness, vulnerability and transparency. Under Mr. Couris’ leadership, Tampa General Hospital was the first healthcare provider in Florida to partner with GE Healthcare to launch CareComm, a care coordination center using artificial intelligence, predictive analytics and industrial engineering to improve safety, quality and cost. Additionally, Mr. Couris has launched other key initiatives to bring Tampa General Hospital to the forefront of innovation. He currently serves on the boards of the Florida Chamber of Commerce, Florida Hospital Association, Safety Net Hospital Alliance of Florida, PGA TOUR Valspar Championship and The Florida Aquarium. In addition, Mr. Couris is a member of and serves on committees for multiple regional councils and healthcare associations.
