About the Session

COVID-19 has changed all of healthcare, and caregivers will continue to feel the effects of the pandemic for years. It is likely that our healthcare system will be significantly reshaped as a result. One question that might be asked is, “Who will lead the changes?”

Physicians have always been at the forefront of healthcare; essentially, they are the ones who drive most of the decisions that pertain to care, quality and costs. Their ability to play a role, major or minor, in reshaping hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, public health services and other aspects of health, wellness and care is unquestioned. This is clearly an issue of engagement, a topic that has received much focus even before COVID-19. The long history of stress between physicians and administration presents challenges to all as changes are made in healthcare. Much of the past 40–50 years has seen administrators either trying to focus on physician satisfaction and/or trying to assert some degree of control.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will learn to define, measure and enhance physician engagement through leadership and involvement.
  • Participants will learn the mantra of “Belong, Believe, Build” to get more physicians involved in the decision-making process and enhance engagement levels.

This session qualifies for 1.0 ACHE Face-to-Face Education credit. Attendees must participate during the scheduled time to earn ACHE Face-to-Face Education credit.
