Although high reliability is clearly possible in complex industries, the question remains how to achieve it in healthcare. This program will teach the organizational requirements for starting on a high-reliability journey and the tools to achieve it over time. The critical importance of leadership commitment at the board and CEO levels to achieving the ultimate goal of zero harm will be discussed, including the new report from ACEH and the IHI/NPSF Lucian Leape Institute, Leading a Culture of Safety: A Blueprint for Success. The session will illustrate how the adoption of robust process improvement can provide an organization with a positive ROI while enabling substantial improvements in the quality of care.
