About the Session

This presentation will describe Alameda Health System’s approach to reducing clinical variation across the organization in three high-impact clinical focus areas. Presenters will describe how Alameda assessed the current level of readiness for the organization to adopt common and standardized clinical workflows and practices as a precursor to EHR implementation. You will learn from how the health system assessed opportunities for clinical variation management, prioritized opportunities and identified high priority workflows and clinical areas to achieve maximum value from clinical variation management. The discussion will include information about the risks and barriers to clinical variation management and potential mitigation plans. You will learn how the health system used a standard approach to clinical variation management initiatives, developed a sustainable and effective clinical standardization governance and management structure, and informed its EHR implementation plan using findings from this work.
