65X—Rookie Manager: Leading People for the First Time

About the Session
This course answers the question, “What does it actually take to lead people?” It is designed for early Careerists and first-time managers/supervisors to make the jump beyond the latest leadership textbook. Too often, young managers are unexposed to situations they are likely to encounter and end up facing them with little context for success. Although there is no substitute for experience, there is also no reason not to be prepared.
Led by instructors with experience leading departments of up to 100 staff members, attendees to this interactive session will collaboratively evaluate real-life examples of novel situations the instructors have faced and learn tools and strategies for navigating them in a positive way. The instructors will also share mistakes made and key themes from these experiences to provide attendees with a framework for preparing for their own managerial careers and beyond.
