About the Session

This presentation will characterize the growing risks of corporate negligence litigation and its consequences. You will review some of the most common failures that lead to these lawsuits and make them difficult to defend. Faculty will describe opportunities for restructuring medical staff work, addressing common relevant weaknesses in policies and procedures, identifying education and training opportunities, and coordinating and simplifying credentialing and peer review across multiple medical staffs. The presentation will highlight the appropriate responses and actions that should be undertaken when hospital leaders learn that their organization has been named in a corporate negligence legal action. After this session, you will be able to return to your institution and organize effective audits of those areas that put your organization at risk of corporate negligence litigation. You will be better prepared to respond effectively to allegations of corporate negligence.
