Value and consumer preference require organizations to develop service excellence as a core competency. Key to this is workforce alignment, employee engagement and leadership commitment. Accelerating culture change can be done in a systematic and deliberate manner. Though most research suggests it takes up to seven years for a culture change, this seminar’s presenters argue that it can be done in less than half that time by following several guiding principles.

This session will provide a framework for understanding the current state of your organization and its culture. You will review real-world case studies of successful and failed initiatives. Faculty will share key tactics, strategies, lessons learned, and recommendations and tools for you to incorporate into your work and organization. The presenters have extensive experience in healthcare transformation and emphasize the practical approach and leadership imperatives required to make significant, lasting change. Real examples and the quantifiable results of large-scale, rapid cultural change will be shared in a case study format. Case examples will include an EHR deployment; the turnaround of a community hospital; and the realignment of a large collective bargain unit with a hospital’s goals for quality, safety and efficiency. The presenters will showcase a tool that can be used to assess your organization’s readiness for change and a checklist that can be used to help you deploy rapid cultural change in your organization effectively.
