About the Session
This session will review several landmark payment reforms that serve as the basis for current and emerging policies, including the Medicare and CHIP Reauthorization Act and its Quality Payment Program, Medicaid 1115 waivers, and Advanced Alternative Payment Models Using cornerstone payment models as examples, the presenters will extract foundational insight about principles that executives can expect in future reform. The session will conclude with a discussion about strategies that executives can use to lead their organizations in responding to payment arrangements built upon these foundational principles. Short-term outcomes for attendees will be to understand emerging trends and future directions for value-based payment reforms that provide foundational knowledge about “where the puck is going” in payment policy. Longer-term outcomes for attendees will be to formulate organizational strategies to navigate the changing payment environment.
