About the Session

This session will address the evolution of diversity and inclusion work related to the LGBT population in healthcare organizations. The presenters will focus on the linkage between programs that advance inclusion for the healthcare workforce and improved access and outcomes for the patient population. Significant focus will be given to the Healthcare Equality Index and workforce diversity and inclusion metrics. As a result of having attended this session, you will be able to immediately assess your organization’s current approaches related to diversity and inclusion and determine whether they align with best practices. You will leave better equipped to create a long-term vision and strategy to achieve a more inclusive environment for your community’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender population.

  • Evaluate congruence between personal beliefs, values and biases related to the LGBT population with those espoused by systems and institutions.
  • Relate the journey to inclusion for the healthcare workforce to aims for the achievement of health equity for the LGBT population.
