About the Session

Leadership in healthcare is inherently complex. The pathways for success in leadership are varied, and individuals moving into leadership roles come from a variety of backgrounds, including clinical and nonclinical. With the ongoing trend of employment of physicians in organizations, a natural outcome is for physicians to move into leadership roles. During this session, discover how this outcome can create opportunities for healthcare organizations to learn from physicians but also present challenges when nonphysician leaders are assimilated with physician leaders. You will learn strategies for successfully integrating these differences in leadership, which is critical for ongoing success in healthcare delivery.

Seminar 21 will be held at the Palmer House Hilton; includes a 15-minute break.

Learning Objectives:

  • Review and discuss the different educational approaches and learning pathways for physician and nonphysician leaders.
  • Define different leadership approaches and review opportunities for integrating leadership approaches in your organization.
