About the Session
Many executives and managers employ a feedback-based method of leadership rather than a coaching model. The limitation of a feedback-based model is that it typically emphasizes shortcomings or gaps and doesn’t promote learning. In fact, it often shuts off avenues of knowledge acquisition and self-reflection. This seminar will describe the feedback approach and its shortcomings and offer the philosophical, scientific and business rationale for alternative approaches, in particular the coaching model. You will explore this leadership method and develop and practice it through case-based role play that encourages positive interaction and learning.
- Recognize the shortcomings of a feedback-based leadership model and review how a coaching model might be more beneficial in peer and manager relationships.
