About the Session
Physician engagement, retention and satisfaction are essential elements to delivering the highest quality, safest care. This discussion will detail how health systems can address physician burnout from adoption of technology by developing a program to involve physicians in the process of improving EHR quality, reliability and adaptation. The faculty will share how their health information technology team uses analytics from physician time spent engaged in EHR activities, particularly after hours, to help identify providers that may be suffering from burnout. These clinicians are provided training and support, while being tapped for their perspectives on workflows that the physicians feel are misplaced or wasteful. Additionally, you will hear how the organization has created an Alerts Dashboard that seeks to identify causes of unnecessary false positive alerts that may be diminishing the effectiveness of accurate and significant alerts.
- Understand how time spent in the EHR can identify clinician burnout and provide support.
- Describe strategies for supporting physicians struggling to use IT and engaging them in identifying unnecessary work created by technology in clinical workflows.
