About the Session

While some individual telehealth programs have demonstrated successful pilot programs, few healthcare systems have experienced the integration of a robust number of specialties developed and scaled for effective telehealth delivery. At the Medical University of South Carolina, the Center for Telehealth leveraged Information Technology Infrastructure Library, a nonproprietary framework designed for IT service providers, for the successful development and implementation of telehealth services. ITIL has historically been used by IT service providers to provide a systematic framework of best practices for managing IT services. MUSC Health identified the best-practice concepts and processes within the ITIL framework and adapted them to create an effective telehealth service management framework. This course will review the phases (strategy, design, transition, operations and continuous quality improvement) within the framework created at MUSC. You will review the processes and best practices within each phase to help your organization develop, implement and sustain telehealth services.

Learning Objectives:

  • Examine the five phases of the telehealth service management framework.
  • Identify the key concepts and processes that need to be navigated to implement a new telehealth service.
