76X - Integrating Health Equity Into Quality Management

Wednesday, March 22

9:00–10:30 a.m.

Quality of care and outcomes remain significant challenges for communities of color, gender and sexual minorities, and for indigent populations. Many healthcare systems have embraced programs to enhance their own diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) activities. Many of those activities include hiring of DEI staff and representatives for marginalized groups. While the results of these can be hard to quantify, there are steps that organizations can take as they work to revitalize their quality management and improvement systems. Participants will leave the session understanding the strategic mindset required to integrate health equity principles into care delivery and the steps to integrate health equity into quality management system gap analyses and improvement activities.

Learning Objectives

  • Discuss the leadership imperative to support legislation and policy that address equity as a primary strategy of quality improvement and safety.
  • Describe the steps to integrate health equity into the quality management systems of measurement and improvement.
