68H - Utilizing Lean Methodology for Systemwide Deployment of Workforce Retention Strategies

The workforce challenges of the past two years have driven an intense focus on recruitment and retention. With the all-time high in turnover during the pandemic, particularly first-year turnover being over 40%, Emory Healthcare has leveraged its EmPower Lean philosophy to drive workforce retention and engagement improvements. This session will provide a methodical and effective process to address workforce retention and engagement challenges; introduce the use of A3 Thinking to pilot Stay Interviews, build a toolkit to include electronic form to track data (risk tracker) and develop dashboards; show how the organization rolled out training systemwide and provided leaders with workforce resources; and share other tools and resourced developed by multiple workforce workgroups to support continued efforts in driving retention and engagement. The session will include testimonials from pilot areas, their results and actual education materials deployed to support leaders with the Stay Interview process.
