Bridget is a leader in advanced information technology and is the former Senior Vice President of IT Operations, Services and Technology at Kaiser Permanente, one of the largest US integrated healthcare delivery systems and health plans, employing 25,000 physicians, 74,000 nurses and 146,000 other employees serving nearly 13 million members, with over $100 billion in annual revenues. At Kaiser, she transformed the business by leveraging AI, automation, hybrid cloud and cyber security that improved patient care delivery, increased hospital operating efficiencies and strengthened enterprise-wide cyber security and readiness. Her notable innovations include developing and deploying an AI-based IT operating model across the enterprise infrastructure with predictive capabilities, and the industry leading Telecritical Care Solution for their most critically ill patients by integrating multiple technologies including AI, video, patient data, and clinical data that enable expert clinicians to have real time access --- wherever they are located around the world --- and bring their expertise right to the patient's bedside, accelerating care for deteriorating patients. Additionally, she served as Kaiser’s National Incident Commander and created the nationwide Cyber Security Resiliency Program across hospital operations, physician medical groups and business operations. Prior to Kaiser, Bridget was the Global Chief Technology Officer for IBM where she managed the industry’s largest enterprise IT estate of more than 750,000 servers. Her notable innovations include developing the industry’s first AI-powered IBM Services Platform with Watson to enable workloads to run on premises, in private or public cloud environments, that self-learns and self-heals, and the IBM Cloud Automation Community Framework, the open-sourced based automation operating across hybrid cloud environments that earned IBM the industry leadership ranking for Intelligent IT Infrastructure Services Automation that continues today, generating more than 110 million automations per month. Before joining IBM, Karlin held senior executive positions at Intel Corporation as General Manager of its Internet of Things division, and as General Manager of Intel’s Hybrid Cloud business.
Currently, Bridget is the Managing Director of BEK Strategies, and serves on the board of directors for Lumexa Imaging, Inc., the 2nd largest provider of diagnostic imaging in the United States, on the board of Dana Inc. (NYSE: DAN), a Fortune 500 world leader in automotive manufacturing across conventional, hybrid, and electric vehicles, and on the board of LyondellBasell (NYSE: LYB), a global leader in petrochemical manufacturing, known for innovation in technology and sustainability. Additionally, Bridget serves as a member on the Council of Foreign Relations, the country’s leading independent, nonpartisan foreign policy think tank where she advises on AI, cyber security and other advanced technology. Bridget is a graduate of the University of California and the Harvard Business School Executive Leadership Program. She is a recipient of the international 2023 Digital Innovator Award, 2021 Technology Hall of Fame, the 2019 National Technology Humanitarian Award, the 2019 Women in Consumer Technology Legacy Award, the Industrial IoT 5G Innovators Award, the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, and the Bell Labs Technology Innovator Award.
