Safety & Quality
Healthcare has been identified by business leaders as the most complex sociotechnical system. Increasingly, providers are turning to technology to assist in streamlining and improving operations. At an ever-increasing rate, this technology is incorporating AI, which may further increase complexity. However, poorly selected or implemented technology can specifically lead to greater miscommunication, workarounds, loss of efficiency, a decrease in employee engagement and patient satisfaction, and increase the risk of harm. The key to success in the safe adoption of new technologies (rather than increasing complexity and risk of negative outcomes) is to take a total systems approach.
Attendees of this session will learn how to better research and plan for technology implementation, including the specific factors that must be considered and addressed in order to safely implement new technologies within their organization.
