Strategy & Innovation
Central Ohio is experiencing an unprecedented population boom, projected to reach 3.15 million by 2050. This growth, coupled with a shift toward value-based care, has significantly increased the demand for primary care services. A single mode of care expansion is inadequate to meet this burgeoning need. In response, OSU Physicians—the clinical practice arm of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center—has pioneered a novel primary care model. This innovative approach streamlines the employment of primary care providers, enhancing efficiency and provider satisfaction. As academic medicine evolves, a collaborative framework emerges where physicians dedicated to academic pursuits join forces with those serving the community. This synergy is pivotal in delivering cutting-edge, impactful patient care. This session will explore the hurdles encountered while forging this new direction and discuss the transformative effects our model has had on improving access to primary care.
