Workforce
This session aims to educate on how University of Texas Health at Austin (UTHA) redefined care team roles and functions to address looming and current workforce shortages, recruitment challenges and burnout in its ambulatory clinic setting. It will illustrate how UTHA leveraged nonclinical staff and optimized traditional clinical roles to improve care delivery efficiency, as well as maximize team capabilities and connect processes redesigned, models implemented and adoption of "top-of-license" principles to improve staff morale. Attendees will leave with the framework used for care team redesign for clinical and nonclinical staff and be able to challenge traditional workflows, leveraging models like pre-appointment intake to streamline processes and reduce redundant work. They will develop and refine staffing calculators and methodologies to maintain an optimal workforce. Standardized roles and workflows enable continuous quality improvement while fostering a culture of innovation.
