Operations
This session will walk attendees through the journey of a health system from a holding company to an operating entity. Many health systems have made this journey. Some were successful, and some have struggled. The pandemic clearly showed that there is no inherent advantage to scale, unless certain work is successfully accomplished as the system is designed. Many of the largest systems in this country struggled the most over the last decade. For a health system to realize the advantages of size and scale, certain operational challenges have to be solved. Healthcare is local, but a health system that covers many markets and communities should have advantages as it moves to a single operational platform. This session will cover the elements that have led some systems to realize these advantages.
