Her commitment to architecting high-performing healthcare systems, bridging gaps by elevating the voices of patients and communities, and advocating for social justice and equity has notably improved outcomes in stroke care and other critical health areas impacting diverse communities. Washington's global perspective was further enhanced by earning a graduate certificate in international health studies from Central Michigan University, where she studied international healthcare delivery systems firsthand in Belize, at the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland, and through participation in the World Congress on Public Health in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Washington’s influential leadership includes prominent board roles she has served in over the years, with organizations such as the National Quality Forum (NQF), the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), and the National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE), as well as committee work with organizations such as CMS and Joint Commission. Currently, she serves on boards for Cook County Health Foundation, Grand Prairie Behavioral Health, Southland Care Coordination Partners, and the State of Illinois Mental Health Advisory Committee.
Washington is a visionary whose influence reverberates across the healthcare industry. Her steadfast commitment to systemic improvement and equity has established her as a trusted voice and a catalyst for positive, lasting change in healthcare delivery. Through her extensive body of work, Washington continues to lead the way in building a more equitable, efficient, and patient-centered healthcare landscape. She holds a Doctor of Health Administration from Central Michigan University, a master’s degree from Governors State University, and a Bachelor of Arts from Chicago State University.
