Dr. Cindy Ann Stout is the President and Chief Executive Officer of El Paso Children’s Hospital. Dr. Stout is responsible for the operations, budget, development, and strategy for a 148-bed dedicated, not-for-profit children’s hospital. El Paso Children’s Hospital is the only separately licensed, Joint Commission certified, pediatric specialty hospital within a 350-mile radius.
Prior to joining El Paso Children’s Hospital, Dr. Stout served as Chief Nursing Officer at University Medical Center of El Paso, a 327-bed, multi-campus hospital system; prior to that she was the Chief Nursing Officer at Del Sol Medical Center for over ten years and served as the Chief Nurse Executive for Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare System.
An El Paso native, Dr. Stout received her undergraduate degree in Nursing from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, a Master of Science in Nursing with an administrative focus from University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), and a Doctor of Nursing Practice with executive focus from Duke University.
Dr. Stout has more than 30 years of experience in healthcare environments and has been responsible for many innovations, resulting in recognitions, in the El Paso market. Some of these accomplishments include 2022 ICON Talks Visionary Award, 2022 Mayor’s Distinguished Award by Mayor Oscar Lesser, 2022 American College of Healthcare Executive’s Regent’s Award, University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) Gold Nugget honoree for the School of Nursing (2009) and implementation of an internship program with UTEP, Texas Tech University El Paso, and New Mexico State University that has now been replicated in multiple cities.
Dr. Stout is involved in various civic and healthcare activities. She currently serves as a member and past Chairman for the Children’s Hospital Association of Texas Board, member of the Rio Grande Cancer Foundation Board of Directors, Chairman of Emergence Health Network Board of Trustees; member of El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank Board of Directors, and UTEP School of Nursing and Health Sciences Advisory Board to name a few.
